Everything Is Different
Woke up to the sound of a gun
Jumped out of bed, started to run
Went on over and I lifted the blind
Red and blue lights, flashing in time
I never claimed to be over sentimental
But there's certain things that I miss
Yesterday never was to simple
But it shouldn't have to end like this
Everything, everything, everything is different than it was
Everything, everything, everything is different than it was
A baby's crying in a welfare hotel
Can't stand the noise, can't stand the smell
Mother's face is a glow in the flame
Dreams up in smoke, she don't know here name
I never claimed to be over sentimental
But there's something going on around here
It doesn't seem to be quite elemental
But there's certain things I've seen
Everything, everything, everything is different than it was
Everything, everything, everything is different than it was
Woke up to the sound of a gun
Jumped out of bed, started to run
Went on over and I lifted the blind
Red and blue lights, flashing in time
I never claimed to be over sentimental
But there's certain things that I miss
