The Day The Earth Stood Still

First you check on the children, say goodbye to the maid
Left a note for her husband, she was afraid
Drove away in a hurry, drove away in a herse
A baby revolver asleep in her purse
Went to see an attorney and drew up a will
On the day the Earth stood still

She had studied deception, so nobody knew
Just where she'd been spending those long afternoons
In the arms of Armando, in the heat of his bed
He would tempt her with promises, she believed what he said
Though she knew he was hopeless, she loved him until
The day the Earth stood still

She liked his magic touch
And how he dressed her up
He made her feel alive
He made her feel so young
He liked her pocketbook
Jumped in and took a look
She'd hang up her dress, light a cigarette
And say, "Armando, honey, please make this old broad forget"

Armando had told her he loved nobody else
While he wooed a young widow, a trendy hotel
So tonight she'll be waiting, waiting for him
To spell out his destiny and to pay for her sin
Because his bullet is deadly, he scream it so sure
On the day the Earth stood still

On the day the Earth stood still
On the day the Earth stood still
On the day the Earth stood still
On the day the Earth stood still
