Fireworks

The Puritans would have burned you at the stake
The Victorians would have locked you up
In the cell next to Oscar Wilde
Cause you're such a dangerous child

The Puritans would have burned you at the stake
They would have tied a rock around your neck
And flung you in the drink
And do you know what I think

I'm thinking I want you, I want you bad
I don't care about the life you've had
I don't need a girlfriend or a wife
But I need some fireworks in my life

Cause I'm so tired of being tired
I'm unenthused and uninspired
I'm throwing caution to the wind
I can't wait for the fireworks to begin

The Puritans would have burned you at the stake
Yeah, you would have been sent to a convent
Back in 1953
You would've got a lobotomy

But I want you, I want you bad
I don't care about the life you've had
I don't need a girlfriend or a wife
But I need some fireworks in my life

Cause I'm so tired of being tired
I'm unenthused and uninspired
I'm throwing caution to the wind
I can't wait for the fireworks to begin

I believe that you and I
Could illuminate the summer sky
Make everybody ooh and aah
This could be our last hurrah

Cause I want you
I want you bad
I can't wait
For the fireworks

The Puritans would have burned you at the stake
